CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Just over half of the Patriot League teams took the court Wednesday night, with six teams playing in nonconference action. Only one team was able to add one in the win column, while the other five had to add one to the right hand column.

Wednesday's Results
Old Dominion 64, Loyola Maryland 41
Saint Joseph's 63, Lehigh 62
Youngstown State 55, Bucknell 47
LIU Brooklyn 68, Navy 66 (OT)
Holy Cross 77, Vermont 63
UMBC 47, American 46

Both Loyola Maryland and Lehigh played early games in support of Education Day but fell short in collecting another win. The Greyhounds played Old Dominion on the road, falling to the Lady Monarchs 64-41. On the other hand, the Mountain Hawks struggled in the third quarter and scored only nine points opposed to the visiting Hawks’ 17. Down by 11 points with 6:22 remaining, Lehigh rallied back to take a 59-58 lead with just under a minute to go in regulation. After a good jumper from the Hawks’ Ciara Andrews gave them the lead again, sophomore Quinci Mann gave the home team the advantage one again, sinking one from behind the arc with 21 seconds left. However, Andrews hit another one from the field and drew a foul with eight seconds remaining and then drained what was the winning basket from the line, 63-62.

Bucknell welcomed Youngstown State for an early evening contest, but it was the visiting Penguins that went home the winners, 55-47. Navy also played at home, welcoming LIU Brooklyn. A 23-12 fourth quarter in favor of the visitors pushed the contest into overtime – the Mids’ fourth-straight contest needing at least one extra period. However, the Blackbirds edged out Navy 8-6 in overtime to claim a 68-66 win. American also suffered a tough loss, dropping its second-straight loss by just one point, after dropping a home contest to Wake Forest on Sunday, 71-70. The Eagles were edged out by UMBC on the road, 47-46.

Holy Cross was the lone Patriot League team to capture a midweek win, defeating Vermont at home, 77-63. The Crusaders made a final push in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Retrievers 27-19 to secure the victory. Senior Raquel Scott led the offensive efforts with 23 points and was 11-for-21 from the field. Sophomore Infiniti Thomas-Waheed and senior Lisa Mifsud also reached double-digit points, netting 16 and 14 respectively, while senior Molly Hourigan posted 15 boards.

On Tuesday night, Boston University was the lone squad with an opponent scheduled. The Terriers stayed close and traveled to UMass-Lowell. Unfortunately, BU didn’t have the turnout it was hoping for and fell to the River Hawks, 70-57, despite Sarah Hope leading the team with 20 points and hitting a season-high six treys. Troi Melton also reached double-digit points, scoring 16.

Army West Point will play the only Thursday contest scheduled when the Black Knights travel to New Haven to play Ivy foe Yale, before the weekend’s games commence on Friday.
